Question: 1

( 1 cos 2 θ ) cot θ csc 2 θ
  • sin θ
  • cos 2 θ
  • tan θ
  • sin 2 θ
  • cot θ

  Show/Hide Explanation

Correct Answer: E

In this problem, we can use the identities cot θ = cos θ sin θ and csc θ = 1 sin θ

( 1 cos 2 θ ) cot θ csc 2 θ = ( 1 cos 2 θ ) cos θ sin θ ( 1 sin θ ) 2

= ( 1 cos 2 θ ) cos θ sin θ 1 sin 2 θ

This doesn't seem to help a whole lot. However, we should recognize that (1−cos2θ)=sin2θ because of the Pythagorean identity sin2θ+cos2θ = 1 .
