Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology came into being in the year 1982. The university is named after Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who was a great Kashmiri leader. The university imparts education in the field of agriculture. The aim of the university is to provide education to the rural masses of the region and country.

Programs and Courses

The university comprises of the following faculties along with their respective departments.
Faculty of Agriculture includes Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Soil Science, Agriculture Engineering, Agri. Stat & Economics, Forestry and Animal Husbandry & Dairying.
Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry includes Animal Genetics & Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Ethics & Jurisprudence, Livestock Production & Management, Live Stock Products Technology, Veterinary Extension Education, Veterinary Anatomy & Histology, Veterinary Bio-Chemistry, Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Veterinary Clinical Service Complex and Veterinary Anatomy and Histology. Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

In order to get the admission in the undergraduate programs the applicant should have at least 50% marks in the intermediate examination and the entrance test of the university. However, the admission is awarded via open category and reserved category. 50% seats are allocated to the applicants applying through open category and 50% seats are for those who come under the category of SRO-126 of Jammu & Kashmir Government. Moreover, bachelor’s degree is required for the admissions in the postgraduate programs.
