Established in the year 1983, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam is situated in the town named Tirupati which is in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The university is named after a goddess named Padmavati. The main motive of the university is to educate women in order to make them competent, so that they could contribute effectively in the development of society. The university is in collaboration with many national and as well as international institutions. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded 4-stars to the university.

Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam is a Unitary University with 16 departments having 52 programme options: 5 postgraduate diplomas, 4 undergraduate, 16 postgraduate, 14 M.Phil. and 14 Ph.D. programmes. Among the most notable features of the University is the introduction of new courses that have a great demand in the job market such as MBA in Media Management, Integrated (5 year) course in Bio Technology, Bachelor of Physical Education and BioInformatics. The University also offers courses in Distance Education mode.
