The Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open University was established in the year 1982. The motto ‘Education at your doorstep”, Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open University has been proved right by having a state-wide 206 study centers. The University has a very noble mission, which is to give the opportunity of acquiring education to those persons who cannot manage to go to regular universities. Moreover, Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open University ensures flexibility to the applicants and enrolled students for admission criteria, age requirement, duration…etc

Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Open University comprises of five faculties which offers undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Ed and B.Ed degrees. Following are the faculties along with their respective departments. Faculty of Arts includes Department of English & Foreign Languages, Department of Telugu Studies, Department of Hindi, and Department of Urdu. Faculty of Commerce includes Department of Business Management, Department of Commerce. Faculty of Education includes Department of Education. Faculty of Science includes Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Department of Geology, Department of Botany, and Department of Zoology. Faculty of Social Science includes Department of Economics, Department of Public Administration, Department of Political Science, Department of History, Department of Sociology, Department of Library and Information Sciences and Department of Psychology.
