Periyar University came into being in the year 1997. The university is named after a social reformer named Erode Venkata Ramasamy(called Periyar by his admirers). The university believes in the “Holistic development of the students” and that’s why it is also the main objective of the university. There are 66 colleges affiliated to the university in the region. The university also offers distance education program. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited the university ‘B+’ grade.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

Admissions can be obtained in the undergraduate courses if the applicant has successfully cleared the intermediate education. Apart from this, one should have a bachelor’s degree in order to be eligible to seek the admission in the postgraduate departments. University conducts entrance test (PMUET) for all under graduate programs like engineering, technology and architecture.
