Eastern University

The Eastern University Sri Lanka was established in the year 1981. The university comprises of two campuses, one is in Vantharumoolai and the other one is in Trincomalee. The university is regarded as one of the ten largest universities when it comes to the number of students. The university had 3,046 students and 550 employees in 2010.

Programs and Courses

The Faculty of Agriculture is divided into six departments: Agricultural Biology, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Chemistry, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Sciences and Crop Science. The Faculty of Applied Sciences is divided into two departments: Computer Science and Physical Science. The Faculty of Arts & Culture is divided into nine departments: Arabic, Comparative Religion & Social Harmony, Education & Childcare, Fine Arts, Geography, History, Islamic Studies, Languages and Social Sciences. The Faculty of Commerce & Management is divided into three departments: Commerce, Economics and Management. The Faculty of Communication & Business Studies is divided into two departments: Business & Management Studies and Languages & Communication Studies. The Faculty of Healthcare Sciences is divided into six departments: Clinical Sciences, Human Biology, Medical Education & Research, Pathophysiology, Primary Health Care and Supplementary Health Sciences. The Faculty of Science is divided into five departments: Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

Intake of the students in undergraduate programs is done through UGC. Apart from this, minimum score of Z is required in the GCE Advanced Level Examinations. However, for the postgraduate admission, different departments have different requirements. Students from abroad should have a GRE score of 280.
