Patna University

Patna University was established in the year 1917, in the city of Patna which is the capital of the Indian state Bihar. The university has the reputation of being the first university in Bihar and the seventh oldest university in the sub-continental region. The university encompasses the vision of becoming the institution of excellence in the 21st Century.

Programs and Courses

The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctoral programs in the following academic fields.
Faculty of Science includes departments of Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Mathematics, Statistics and Geology. Faculty of Humanities includes the departments of English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Bengali, Maithili, Persian, Philosophy, Arabic and Urdu.
Faculty of Social Science includes the departments of History, Psychology, Ancient Indian History & Archaeology, Economics, Sociology, Personnel Management & Industrial Relations, Geography, Political Science, Institute of Public Administration, Institute of Psychological Research and Service.
Faculty of Commerce includes the departments of Applied Economics and Commerce.
Faculty of Education includes the departments of Education.
Faculty of Law includes the departments of Law.
Faculty of Fine Arts includes the departments of College of Arts & Craft.
Faculty of Medicine includes the departments of BDS.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

The applicants wishing to apply for the admission in the undergraduates program must clear the intermediate education successfully. Moreover, for the admissions in the postgraduate programs a bachelor’s degree is necessary. University conducts Entrance test for admission to three year degree programs.University also conducts entrance test for B.ED programs. The admission test is known as (BEET) i.e. Bachelor of Education Entrance Test
