The University of Sri Jayewardenepura is situated in Nugegoda. The university came into being in the year 1959. The university provides quality education in various academic fields.

Faculties and Departments:

Faculty of Applied Sciences has Department of Physics,Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Forestry and Environmental Science and Food Science and Technology. Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has Department of Economics, Political Science, English, Geography, History and Archaeology, Pali and Buddhist Studies, Languages and Cultural Studies, Sinhala and Mass Communication, Social Statistics, Sociology and Anthropology. Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce has Department of Public Management and special units are Information Technology Resource Centre (ITRC), Accounting Resource Centre (ARC) and Small and Medium Enterprise Development Support Unit (SMEDSU). Faculty of Medical Sciences has departments of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Family Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Medical Education and Health Sciences, Medicine, Microbiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Parasitology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry and Surgery.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

For the admission in the undergraduate programs, one must successfully clear the GCE advanced level test. The admissions requirement for the postgraduate course is determined by the departments. Foreign students are required to prove that their education(outside Sri Lanka) is equivalent to GCE Advanced level in order to get the admission and if it is not equivalent than they must pass this examination.
