Situated in Mihintale, the Rajarata University was established in the year 1996. The university conveys education in many fields including Agricultural, Applied Sciences, Management Studies, Medical and Allied Science and Social Sciences and Humilities. It also encourages research projects.

Programs and Courses

Faculty of Applied Sciences offers following programs:
B.Sc. (General) three-year degree in Applied Sciences., four-year degree in Applied Sciences, Industrial Mathematics, B.Sc. (Special) four-year degree in Applied Biology, Health Promotion, Information & Communication Technology(ICT), B.Sc. (Joint Major) four-year degree in Biology & Physics.

Departments

University has two departments such as Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences. Biological sciences offer following courses in following subjects: Botany/Zoology/Biology. Department of Physical Sciences offers courses in following subjects Chemistry, Physics, Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and Information and Communication Technology. Faculty of Management Studies offers post graduate courses constitutes four departments which offer undergraduate degrees in Accountancy & Finance, Business Management, Tourism & Hospitality Management and Business Information Technology. Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences has introduced by President Mahinda Rajpaksa.

Admission Procedure 2024 - 2025

The UGC selects the candidates who meet the requirement of minimum Z score in GCE A/level. Aptitude test is taken by the university. For the postgraduate applicants bachelor’s degree is required. International students should pass SAT or prove equivalency to GCE A/level Z score.
